AI Agents Now Complete Purchases—How Spreedly Is Powering the Shift

AI agents are now handling more than just product recommendations—they can complete purchases at checkout. This shift has led to a new wave of commerce, where transactions happen seamlessly within AI interfaces. Spreedly, a payments platform, has launched a solution to help merchants adapt without overhauling their existing systems.

Spreedly's latest offering, agentic commerce, integrates AI-driven payments into its open platform. The technology allows consumers to buy goods using stored credentials while merchants retain full control over transaction details. Unlike other solutions, Spreedly does not lock businesses into a single AI provider, enabling flexibility across platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini.

The company's smart vaulting system ensures secure transactions without requiring merchants to replace their current infrastructure. Instead, they can process agent-initiated payments through their existing orchestration layer. A one-click integration means no new contracts or complex setup—just a straightforward way to transact within AI environments. By March 2026, Spreedly had confirmed partnerships with over 20 major brands, including Macy's, Under Armour, and Hilton. These retailers are integrating AI payment processing into their systems, testing how agents can streamline purchases. Enterprise merchants like Priceline are already trialling agent-driven transaction flows. Spreedly is also preparing for the future by developing support for emerging agentic commerce protocols, such as UCP and ACP. The first release of these features is expected later this quarter.

The move allows merchants to adopt AI commerce quickly, using their existing payment setups. With major brands already on board, the technology is set to expand further. Spreedly's approach removes barriers, making it easier for businesses to transact in an AI-powered marketplace.
