Lynk Global launches direct-to-device service in the Philippines with Smart Communications
Lynk Global has secured all required approvals to launch its direct-to-device service in the Philippines. The company is collaborating with local telecom provider Smart Communications for the rollout. Beta testing of the service has already begun in the country. Lynk has obtained the necessary authorisations and agreements to operate its D2D service in the Philippines. The firm is working closely with Smart Communications, which has an existing relationship with AST SpaceMobile under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2021.
The planned merger of Lynk with Omnispace will strengthen its position in the market. SES, a major investor in Lynk, will become a key shareholder in the combined business. Together, they aim to deliver D2D and IoT services to mobile network operators, enterprises, and government clients. The combined Lynk and Omnispace business will enable wide-scale deployment of advanced connectivity solutions. The partnership with Smart Communications and SES’s involvement signal strong support for the project. The initiative is set to expand access to direct-to-device services across the Philippines.
