Jeremiah Daniels shines as advocate and star of Color Book on Netflix

Jeremiah Daniels, a Colorado teenager with Down syndrome, has become a prominent figure in advocacy and film. His movie Color Book is now streaming on Netflix and has earned over 30 awards at film festivals. The young actor recently spoke at a major conference, sharing his story alongside his father, Terrance Daniels. Jeremiah Daniels opened the 6th International Conference of the Trisomy 21 Research Society with a panel discussion. His father, Terrance, joined him on stage as a surprise guest, learning firsthand about advances in the field. The event highlighted the progress in Down syndrome research, with lifespans for those with the condition now doubled compared to past decades. New therapies are also moving through the approval process.

Michelle Sie Whitten, President and CEO of the Global Down Syndrome Foundation, emphasised the importance of clinical trials. She noted their role in improving long-term health outcomes for individuals with Down syndrome. Research into the condition and its related health issues has grown substantially since Jeremiah was born.

To celebrate Father’s Day, Jeremiah plans to take his father to Ruth’s Chris for a special meal. He has described Terrance as his superhero, drawing a comparison to his own superpower—running as fast as the comic book character Mr. Flash. The weekend will also feature a special viewing event for Color Book, marking its success and upcoming wider distribution. Jeremiah’s film and advocacy work have brought attention to the Down syndrome community. The conference underscored ongoing efforts to improve lives through research and medical advancements.
