Renowned historian Yury Petrov returns to Vladivostok for major academic conference

Yury Petrov, a leading Russian historian, has returned to Vladivostok for a major academic event. He first came to the city in 2022 for a conference on the Civil War in the Russian Far East. This time, he is attending the 12th International Krushanov Readings Conference in 2026. Petrov is a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He also serves as academic supervisor of the RAS Institute of Russian History. His research focuses on Russia’s economic history in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Under his leadership, the institute is producing a 20-volume series titled History of Russia. Nauka Publishers is printing the books, each designed for academic use with rich illustrations. So far, 12 volumes have been published out of a planned 30. The series aims to offer a thorough and dependable account of Russia’s past for students, researchers, and history professionals. Petrov’s return to Vladivostok highlights his ongoing engagement with historical scholarship. The History of Russia series continues to expand, with more volumes set for release. The project remains a key resource for those studying the nation’s history.
