Doublet's Paris show merges quirky storytelling with bold sustainable fashion

The latest Doublet show presented a dynamic collection with a focus on sustainability and playful designs. The designer showcased a diverse cast at three distinct stages of their day, each look telling a unique story. The show opened with a 'pretty boy' sporting lipstick prints and carrying wads of cash. Another model flaunted a giant coffee cup clutch, while shopping bag-like totes and sunburnt tights with a thong print added quirky touches. A fashionista wore an 'I heart PFW' T-shirt, celebrating the event’s Parisian roots.

A cat owner made an entrance in a shredded 'I love Puma' T-shirt, hinting at Doublet’s upcoming collaboration with the brand. The collection also featured a schoolgirl who transformed into a colourful Harajuku-inspired look after school. Meanwhile, a yuppie began at the gym and later appeared in a plastic overcoat reminiscent of Patrick Bateman.

Innovative fabrics played a central role. Ino reused carbon-capture yarn from the previous season and introduced new recycled materials, including charcoal, banana fibre, and wood. These were incorporated into pieces like a leopard-print cardigan and a tweed mix that concealed its sustainable origins. An all-in-one wrap stood out, using trompe-l'oeil effects to mimic layered garments, with each section crafted from different eco-friendly textiles. The Doublet show blended bold storytelling with sustainable fashion. The use of recycled materials and creative designs highlighted the brand’s commitment to innovation. Each look offered a fresh perspective on modern style and environmental responsibility.
