Uttar Pradesh is rapidly expanding its Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The initiative aims to provide clean energy to households across the state. Several districts, including Prayagraj and Lucknow, are already seeing progress in this drive. As of 24 June 2026, the state has issued 1,60,121 domestic PNG connections. The target for the 2026-27 financial year is set at 16,23,163 connections, with 9.86% already completed.
Companies such as IOC-Adani Gas, Torrent Gas, and GAIL India are actively expanding their networks. They are connecting new consumers and improving infrastructure to support the growing demand. The government also plans to extend the pipeline network to more cities in the coming months.
PNG offers households uninterrupted gas supply and modern safety systems. It is seen as a key move towards reducing carbon emissions and improving urban air quality. The push for PNG connections is expected to benefit thousands of new households this year. Consumers will gain safer, more convenient access to energy. The expansion also supports the state’s goal of promoting pollution-free living.
