Female Arab Journalists Unite to Report on Climate Crisis Under Green Panther

A group of 25 female journalists from 16 Arabic-speaking countries has come together under the Green Panther project. They aim to examine how climate change will shape life across their homelands. The initiative highlights the growing role of women in reporting on the climate crisis in the region. The Green Panther project is run by the Panter Foundation. It focuses on the challenges faced by journalists covering climate issues in areas affected by conflict and limited data. The region, including North Africa and the Middle East, is warming at twice the global rate, making the work urgent.

Extreme heat in Syria may soon force future work to happen only at night. Despite these difficulties, innovative farming techniques are emerging as a potential solution for the region’s future.

The project has already produced two special supplements, published in November 2025 and June 2026. Journalists like Wafa Arouri, Rouba Abo Ammo, Reham Abbas, and Kenda Hmeidan will take part in a discussion about climate change journalism. The event will feature simultaneous interpretation in German and Arabic. The Green Panther project brings attention to the region’s climate struggles. It also showcases the determination of women journalists to report on these critical issues. Their work provides insights into the future of life in a rapidly changing environment.
