Drea Hineman, an undergraduate student from Gillette, has gained regional recognition for her research on space farming. She studies sustainable food production in reduced-gravity environments at the University of Wyoming. Hineman is majoring in plant production and protection in the UW Department of Plant Sciences. Her work is supported by NASA, and she currently holds the title of Wyoming NASA Space Grant Consortium Research Fellow.
She recently presented her findings at the Interplanetary Life symposium in Boise. Her project was ranked first among 29 undergraduate applicants for the 2025 Wyoming NASA Space Grant fellowship. Hineman’s achievements highlight her contributions to space-farming research. Her first-place ranking in the fellowship programme underscores the significance of her work in sustainable agriculture beyond Earth.
