PBBM: New NKTI hemodialysis center operational by early 2028

Philippines' Largest Hemodialysis Center to Open by 2028 at NKTI

A new 13-story hemodialysis centre at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) is set to open in early 2028. The facility will support patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), a condition affecting over 11 percent of the Filipino population. It will feature 200 advanced hemodialysis machines and offer full care services for CKD sufferers. Construction of the centre is progressing in stages. The first phase, covering the ground to the fourth floor, finished on 26 July 2025. By 24 June 2026, the second phase, which includes the fifth and sixth floors, was 70.5 percent complete. The entire project is scheduled for full completion by March 2028.

The new centre responds to a growing need for dialysis treatment. There are currently 904 dialysis centres across the country. To improve access, PhilHealth has expanded its benefits, raising the allowable number of dialysis sessions from 90 to 150 per year. The benefit package for both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis has also been increased. The NKTI facility will be fully operational by early 2028. It will provide advanced care for CKD patients and ease pressure on existing services. The expanded PhilHealth benefits will further support those requiring regular treatment.
