Russian Scientists Patent Breakthrough Treatment for Acute Pancreatitis

Researchers at Novosibirsk State Medical University have developed a new method for treating acute pancreatitis. The approach has been patented and tested in clinical trials. It aims to improve recovery and reduce hospital stays. The treatment involves two main steps. First, a painkiller combined with hyaluronidase is injected into the liver’s round ligament. After five days, the patient’s condition is reviewed, and the procedure may be repeated if needed.

In the second step, platelet-rich plasma from the patient is injected near the pancreas. This stimulates tissue repair and supports healing. The method has shown promising results in trials.

In the control group, standard treatment led to complications in 60% of cases. These patients also experienced much longer hospital stays. The new technique, however, reduces treatment time and lowers complication risks. It can also be used in hospitals with varying levels of resources. The patented method was reported by TASS, based on the official description. It offers faster recovery and fewer complications for acute pancreatitis patients. Hospitals may now adopt this approach to improve treatment outcomes.
