Crimea braces for scorching 34°C heatwave and wildfire threats
A severe heatwave is sweeping across Europe, with Crimea facing unusually high temperatures. The region remains at high risk of wildfires as the extreme weather persists. Forecasters warn of possible thunderstorms during the peak days. Temperatures in Crimea will rise above seasonal norms by 2–5 degrees. On June 27, the mercury is expected to climb to 25–30°C (77–86°F). The following day, June 28, will see readings of 27–32°C (81–90°F).
The heatwave will peak on June 29–30, with Crimea experiencing 30–34°C (86–93°F). Marina Makarova, a specialist at Russia’s Hydrometeorological Center, provided the forecast. The same system will also bring high temperatures to Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Ukraine.
Storm warnings are in place for Crimea, as thunderstorms may accompany the extreme heat. Authorities have highlighted the increased wildfire risk due to the dry, hot conditions. The heatwave will affect Crimea and neighbouring European countries for several days. Temperatures will remain well above average, posing challenges for emergency services. Residents are advised to stay cautious as the weather develops.
