Lake Balkhash transforms into a premier tourist hub with three new beaches by 2027

The shores of Lake Balkhash near Lepsy village are being turned into a major tourist destination. Three new public beaches, each designed for different visitors, will open in stages between 2026 and 2027. The development forms part of a broader effort to attract more tourists to the region annually. A 137-kilometre highway leading to Lake Balkhash has been fully rebuilt. Modern roadside infrastructure now supports the route. Additionally, a new 9.3-kilometre asphalt road runs along the shoreline, improving access to the lake.

Lepsy village has gained direct utility connections to the lake. Water supply networks, power lines, and sewage systems are now in place. These upgrades will support the new resort zone, which follows an approved architectural plan to prevent unplanned construction.

Beach No. 1, named 'Arbat' and aimed at young visitors, will open in July 2026. It will cover nearly seven hectares and include parking for 500 cars. Beach No. 2, designed for families with children, will follow in August 2026. It will offer shallow waters, play areas, and an amphitheatre. Beach No. 3, a peaceful retreat for older visitors, is set to open in 2027. The project is expected to boost the regional economy by increasing tourist numbers each year. The new beaches and infrastructure will provide structured, purpose-built spaces for different groups of visitors. All developments will operate under a clear architectural framework.
