Youth Day 2026 in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast drew over 15,000 participants to a series of innovative events. The celebrations showcased a blend of science, art, and technology, marking a first for the region’s cultural and educational programmes. The central venue, Alexandrovsky Garden, hosted the premiere of Presentiment, a play directed by Mikhail Meshcheryakov. It starred Maxim Beloshanin and Yekaterina Druzhkova, with a collaborative robot from VR Robotics sharing the stage. The same location also featured a science-themed stand-up show by Alexey Yegorov and Pavel Dedishchev.
The Engineering Pavilion was another key attraction, offering a VR zone and yoga sessions accompanied by lectures from young researchers. Meanwhile, the Evolution of Sound music and dance show, performed by JoyKey dance collective and Jazz Underground Quintet, added a dynamic cultural element.
In Vyksa, students and schoolchildren toured the Vyksa Metallurgical Plant to explore practical applications of scientific progress. At Mayak Academy, young scientists from HSE University–Nizhny Novgorod, Privolzhsky Research Medical University, and Lobachevsky University delivered interactive lectures. The Science in Every Step project, a first-time initiative by the regional government, received support from Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Svetlana Anufrieva, Minister of Youth Policy, highlighted the success of integrating these new formats into the Youth Day programme. The event brought together science, performance, and education in a single programme. Over 15,000 attendees experienced a mix of interactive learning, artistic performances, and technological demonstrations. The initiative set a precedent for future editions with its innovative approach.
