Amur Book Shores Fair Honors Yuri Rytkheu's Legacy with Rare Bibliographic Guide
The 15th International Book Fair and Exhibition Amur Book Shores took place in Blagoveshchensk from June 19 to 21. Over 70 authors showcased more than 140 publications during the event. Among the highlighted works was Man of the Long Spring, a new bibliographic guide to the works of Yuri Rytkheu. The bibliographic index Man of the Long Spring was published by St. Petersburg’s Kordis Publishing House. It was created through a collaboration between the Magadan Regional Cultural Workers’ Public Organization, the Pushkin Library, and Okhotnik Publishing House. The book explores the economic life along the Sea of Okhotsk, detailing its factories, trade relations with Japan, and key industrial figures.
This is the first comprehensive guide to Rytkheu’s works since a similar publication appeared in Magadan over 65 years ago. The index was prepared by the Magadan Regional Youth Library to mark the author’s 95th anniversary. It includes a concise biography of Rytkheu, titled Yuri Rytkheu’s Alphabet of Life.
At the fair, Man of the Long Spring received a second-degree diploma in the Dialogue of Cultures category. Another recognised work, Georgiy Dulkeit’s Across the Islands and Shores of the Sea of Okhotsk, earned a third-degree diploma in the Fascinating Local History category. The fair highlighted significant literary contributions, including works on regional history and culture. Man of the Long Spring stands out as a notable achievement in documenting Rytkheu’s legacy. The event reinforced the importance of cultural exchange and scholarly research in the region.
