Sony and Rockstar push GTA VI as the ultimate PS5 experience

Sony and Rockstar have teamed up to promote Grand Theft Auto VI as the best experience on PlayStation 5. The game, one of the most anticipated in years, opened pre-orders on 25 June with a planned release on 19 November. IGN reported that its readers pre-ordered the PS5 version of GTA VI eight times more than the Xbox Series version. The data comes from IGN’s own affiliate links and does not reflect the entire gaming market.

Microsoft responded by stating the figures do not represent overall pre-order numbers. The company claimed it has seen record orders for the game. Sony’s PS5 has sold over 93 million units worldwide, outselling Xbox Series consoles. The marketing partnership between Sony and Rockstar highlights the PS5’s prominence for GTA VI. Pre-order trends and console sales suggest a strong preference for the PlayStation version among some players. The game remains highly anticipated ahead of its November launch.
