Artefacta 2027 Explores Sustainability and Heritage in Estonia's Cultural Hubs

The Fifth International Artefacta Conference will take place in Tartu and Viljandi, Estonia, from 14 to 16 April 2027. Its theme, 'Sustainability and Heritage', links the study of objects and material culture to pressing global discussions. Organisers have now opened a call for submissions from researchers worldwide. The event invites abstracts for oral presentations, posters, and practical workshops. Proposals must not exceed 1000 characters in length. Submissions are welcome from all academic fields, including practice-led and artistic research.

The conference encourages interdisciplinary contributions exploring the role of sustainability in artefacts, material culture, and heritage. Multiple presenters or workshop conveners are allowed for each proposal. The deadline for all submissions is 15 November 2026. The conference aims to foster dialogue between diverse research approaches and global perspectives. Accepted proposals will form part of a programme addressing the growing relevance of sustainability in heritage studies. Final decisions will be announced after the submission deadline.
