Clip's Mi Clip launches to revolutionize digital payments in Mexico

Clip has launched Mi Clip, a new digital wallet ecosystem in Mexico. The platform aims to expand access to digital payments, savings, and credit for both consumers and merchants. It is backed by major partners including Ant International, Mastercard, and Televisa-Univision. Mi Clip is designed to handle high-volume, complex payment scenarios, such as Mexico’s popular 'Buen Fin' shopping events. Over time, users will also gain the ability to make overseas payments, while local merchants will accept international wallet transactions.

The service leverages Clip’s existing merchant network, Ant International’s AI-driven payment technology, Mastercard’s global infrastructure, and Televisa-Univision’s media reach. Adolfo Babatz, Clip’s founder and CEO, described Mi Clip as a financial tool offering simplicity, security, and better credit access.

Nearly 40% of Mexican adults currently lack access to formal financial services. Mi Clip seeks to address this gap by providing digital accounts for everyday payments, financial services, and inclusive credit options. The new ecosystem aims to speed up digital payment adoption in Mexico. It will also drive merchant acceptance and expand access to formal financial services. The platform’s backers see it as a key step in boosting financial inclusion across the country.
