London's Ronson Theatre adds rare IMAX 70mm screenings of Nolan classics

The London Science Museum has announced four additional IMAX 70mm screenings at The Ronson Theatre. This venue is one of the few in the world equipped with an IMAX 70mm film projector and a giant 1.43:1 GT screen. The format is highly regarded by cinema enthusiasts for its unmatched quality. The extra screenings will include The Dark Knight on Friday 19 December. Interstellar follows the next day, on Saturday 20 December. Both films feature extensive IMAX 15/70 footage, with The Dark Knight offering 28 minutes and Interstellar 66 minutes of it.

On Tuesday 23 December, an unrestored version of 2001: A Space Odyssey will be shown. Inception will then screen on Friday 2 January. Both films have been transferred to IMAX 70mm stock for these events.

The theatre provides comfortable seating and 12-channel audio to enhance the experience. Tickets for early showings of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Odyssey—the first film shot entirely in IMAX 1570 stock—were released a year in advance at select IMAX 70mm theatres. Additionally, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be presented in the same format on 11 February. These screenings highlight the rare opportunity to see major films in their highest-quality format.
