Germany Braces for Record-Breaking Heatwave Starting Thursday
Germany is bracing for its hottest days of the year so far. The German Meteorological Service (DWD) has issued heat warnings for large parts of the country, with temperatures set to soar from Thursday onwards. The heatwave begins on Thursday, with warnings in effect from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. In the north, temperatures will stay around 24°C, but the southwest could see highs of 34°C. Alerts cover Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, and Bavaria.
Friday will bring even more intense heat, with forecasts of 30 to 35°C across much of the country. Western and southwestern regions may reach 38°C. Severe thunderstorms are also expected in some areas during this period.
The extreme temperatures will continue into the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, some regions could again hit 38°C. The coming days will see record-breaking heat for the year in Germany. Thunderstorms may accompany the high temperatures in places. Residents in affected regions are advised to take precautions against the extreme conditions.
