Qatar University and Es'hailSat unite to advance nanosatellite innovation

Qatar University has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Es'hailSat. The partnership focuses on advancing nanosatellite technology and strengthening Qatar’s role in the space sector. The agreement combines Qatar University’s academic research with Es'hailSat’s satellite operations expertise. Both parties will exchange technical knowledge, resources, and best practices to support joint projects.

These projects will cover the design, deployment, and operation of nanosatellite missions. The collaboration also aims to boost scientific research, technological development, and STEM outreach. Prof. Aiman Erbad, Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies at Qatar University, called it a strategic move to expand space research.

Qatar University’s nanosatellite initiative started in 2018. It includes student projects and research funded by the QRDI Program. The university now hosts the country’s only academic satellite ground station as part of this effort.

Mr. Hamad Omar Al Mannai, Vice President-Commercial at Es'hailSat, welcomed the partnership. He stated that it would help enhance the university’s nanosatellite programmes and support national capabilities in the field. The agreement outlines shared goals in nanosatellite technology and space research. It will facilitate knowledge exchange and joint missions between the two organisations. The partnership is set to strengthen Qatar’s position in the global space industry.
