Allegheny Health Network's Behavioral Health Institute Relocates to Modern North Side Facility

Allegheny Health Network’s Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Institute has relocated to a new home on Pittsburgh’s North Side. The move comes just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month in May, with the facility set to welcome patients from May 11. Officials say the upgraded space will transform care for years to come.

The institute has left its old location at Four Allegheny Center, where it operated for more than 30 years. Staff and patients often faced issues there, including poor lighting, deteriorating conditions, and unreliable heating and cooling.

The new facility sits on the third floor of the Federal North building. Designed with warm colours and welcoming artwork, it aims to create a more comforting environment. A key feature is an upgraded Austin’s Playroom for children, made possible by a donation from the Mario Lemieux Foundation.

Being next door to other health departments will also improve collaboration. Dr. Anthony Mannarino, chair of the institute, has highlighted the long-term benefits of the move. He believes the modern space will significantly enhance patient care for decades.

The new institute opens its doors to patients on May 11. Its brighter, more functional design replaces the outdated facility, offering better conditions for treatment. The relocation also strengthens ties with neighbouring health services, ensuring more coordinated care.
