AST SpaceMobile wins US defence contract while expanding its satellite network

AST SpaceMobile has secured a major role in a US defence project while expanding its satellite network. The company was recently named a primary contractor for the Missile Defense Agency's SHIELD initiative. The US Missile Defense Agency selected AST SpaceMobile as a key contractor for SHIELD, part of the Golden Dome multi-layer missile defence system. While the customer for this project remains undisclosed, the company's scalable satellite technology was a deciding factor.

Earlier, AST SpaceMobile deployed its BlueBird 6 satellite array, now the largest commercial communications constellation in low Earth orbit. These satellites are designed to deliver global broadband connectivity from space. The same resilient, low-orbit architecture also supports government and defence applications.
