Astana forum spotlights Intergas Central Asia's bold green shift in gas transport
Astana recently hosted an ecological forum on World Environment Day, organised by Intergas Central Asia JSC. The event centred on cutting environmental harm and embedding sustainability into gas transport operations. Company leaders highlighted ongoing efforts to align production with green priorities. Intergas Central Asia JSC has made environmental responsibility a core part of its operations. The company now ties sustainability directly to the reliability of its gas transport infrastructure. Initiatives like 'Plastic-Free Day' and 'Earth Hour' help build an internal culture of eco-awareness among staff.
A key focus is the Low-Carbon Development Program, which targets steady emissions cuts by 2033. The plan relies on both technological upgrades and organisational changes. Each year, the firm tracks greenhouse gas emissions under international Scope 1 and Scope 2 standards. The company has also ramped up financial commitments. Environmental spending nearly doubled last year, with capital investments in green projects rising by 50%. Practical steps include planting over 8,000 tree saplings as part of a broader reforestation push. At the forum, Akbar Tulgenov, First Deputy Chairman of QazaqGaz NC JSC, stressed the need to prioritise environmental goals. He noted that such measures must remain central to the company’s long-term strategy.
Intergas Central Asia JSC continues to expand its sustainability work, from waste management systems to emissions tracking. The forum in Astana reinforced its commitment to greener gas transport. With increased funding and clear targets, the company aims to reduce its carbon footprint steadily over the next decade.
