Beyond Meat's Burger and Steak Earn Historic Climate Solution Certification

Beyond Meat has become the first plant-based meat company to have its products certified as climate solutions. The Beyond Burger IV and Beyond Steak earned this recognition under the Exponential Roadmap Initiative's Climate Solution Framework. So far, no other food products or categories have achieved this status as of April 2026. Founded in 2009, Beyond Meat focuses on fighting climate change and protecting natural resources. Its core products mimic the taste and texture of animal-based meat while avoiding GMOs, hormones, antibiotics, and cholesterol. The company's brand promise, Eat What You Love®, encourages consumers to make choices that benefit both personal health and the planet.

The Beyond Burger and Beyond Steak produce at least 50% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than the market average for beef. A two-pack of Beyond Burger also uses 97% less land, 92% less water, and emits 88% fewer greenhouse gases compared to a standard U.S. beef patty. These environmental benefits contributed to their climate solution certification, which applies only to U.S. products and remains valid until February 2027. Beyond Meat is also the first in its category to receive Clean Label Project Certification. The company's mission highlights the broader advantages of shifting from animal-based to plant-based protein, including improvements in human health, climate impact, and animal welfare.

The certification of Beyond Burger IV and Beyond Steak marks a milestone for plant-based meat alternatives. These products now stand as the only ones recognised as climate solutions in their category. The move reinforces Beyond Meat's position as a leader in sustainable food innovation.
