Birobidzhan forum aims to attract young talent to construction careers

The 'Young Specialist—Builder of the Future' forum took place in Birobidzhan, the capital of Russia’s Jewish Autonomous Oblast (JAO). Organised with support from the Ministry of Construction, the event aimed to boost interest in careers within the construction and architecture sectors. Regional and federal officials gathered to discuss the industry’s growth and opportunities for young professionals. The forum was officially opened by JAO Governor Maria Kostyuk, who stressed the importance of construction in driving regional development. She highlighted how the sector contributes to economic progress and infrastructure improvements across the oblast.

Among the speakers were experts from Russia’s federal construction ministry and representatives from local construction agencies. Topics ranged from urban planning and the role of student construction brigades to modern branding strategies in the industry. Alexander Lomakin, First Deputy Minister of Construction, noted that JAO had already surpassed its 2025 housing construction targets by 35%. Interactive sessions connected young professionals with leading regional employers. Anna Fedorova, head of JAO’s Department of Construction and Housing, showcased the sector’s competitive salaries and the variety of ambitious projects available. The discussions also explored ways to enhance the prestige of construction and architecture professions, encouraging more young talent to join the field.

The forum concluded with a focus on attracting new talent to the construction industry. Participants left with a clearer understanding of career prospects and the sector’s role in regional growth. The event reinforced JAO’s commitment to developing its workforce and meeting future infrastructure demands.
