Blue Mountains Hosts Intensive Wilderness Medicine Course in October 2026

A four-day Expedition & Wilderness Medicine Course will take place in the Blue Mountains from 19th to 22nd October 2026. Designed for healthcare professionals and students, the programme prepares participants for real-world challenges in remote and unpredictable environments.

The course will be held near Sydney, with Katoomba easily reachable by a two-hour train journey. Participants will stay at StayKCC, where accommodation and meals are included in the AUD $2,739 fee. A deposit of $400 secures a place.

The training covers clinical decision-making, trauma management, and search & rescue scenarios. Topics also include human factors, environmental conditions, public health, and logistics. Outdoor activities will take place on uneven terrain, often in rain, wind, or cold, requiring waterproof gear and sturdy boots. No prior wilderness medicine experience is needed. A pre-course WhatsApp group allows participants to connect and ask questions before arrival. Successful completion awards 26.25 hours of CPD from the Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine (ACRRM).

The course offers hands-on training beyond textbook learning, focusing on practical skills for remote medicine. Registration remains open, with the next session scheduled for October 2026 in the Blue Mountains.
