Canary Islands' New Radio Show Brings the Cosmos to Your Ears Every Friday

The Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics (IAC) has launched a new weekly radio show called Dreaming of Stars. The programme aims to share the latest astrophysics research from the Canary Islands with a wider audience. It also honours the legacy of the IAC's late founder, Francisco Sánchez, by borrowing its name from his autobiographical book.

Dreaming of Stars airs every Friday at 10:30 PM on Canary Radio. Each 30-minute episode is hosted by Verónica Martín, who leads the IAC's Scientific Communication and Culture Unit. Listeners can also catch the show as a podcast on the IAC website and iVoox.

The programme features weekly interviews with IAC researchers and staff. These conversations cover recent discoveries, ongoing projects, and the work happening at the Canary Islands Observatories. Segments like Looking at the Sky, PETeR – The Cosmos in the Classroom, and Corners of the IAC add variety to the show's content.

The IAC operates two world-class observatories: the Teide Observatory on Tenerife and the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory on La Palma. Both sites provide optimal high-altitude conditions for astronomical research. With over 400 professionals, the IAC remains a global leader in astrophysics, committed to exploring and explaining the universe.

Dreaming of Stars presents complex science in a clear and engaging way. The show reinforces the IAC's role in advancing research while making it accessible to the public.

The programme builds on the IAC's reputation as a hub for cutting-edge astrophysics. By combining expert interviews, educational segments, and storytelling, it connects listeners to the wonders of space. Dreaming of Stars is now available weekly on radio, podcast platforms, and the IAC's digital channels.
