Fisheries production in the Davao Region fell by 5% in 2025, dropping to 61,290.97 metric tons. The decline was driven largely by a steep reduction in Davao del Sur's output, which shrank by over 40%. Meanwhile, some sectors, like commercial fishing, saw strong growth.
Davao Oriental remained the top producer in the region, contributing 24,966.18 metric tons—40.7% of the total. However, Davao del Sur's production collapsed to 13,517.57 metric tons, a 40.8% drop from the previous year.
Commercial fisheries performed well, with output surging 57.6% to 10,530.17 metric tons. Inland fisheries also grew, rising 41.5% to 36.77 metric tons. But aquaculture struggled, declining 18.1% to 21,107.75 metric tons. Marine municipal fisheries weakened too, falling 7.5% to 29,616.27 metric tons. Milkfish stayed the region's leading species, though production fell to 14,385.27 metric tons. Big-eyed scad moved into second place with 6,884.11 metric tons, while squid dropped to third at 6,876.72 metric tons. No detailed data on other key species, such as tilapia or shrimp, was available for 2025.
The Davao Region's fisheries sector faced mixed results in 2025. While commercial and inland fishing expanded, sharp declines in aquaculture and municipal catches weighed on overall production. Official reports for 2025 had not yet been released as of March 2026, leaving some data gaps.
