Epidemiologist Nattela Tkavadze celebrates 85 years of life and 50 in public health
Nattela Tkavadze, a respected epidemiologist in Russia’s Far East, marks her 85th birthday on May 8. Born in Novorossiysk in 1941, she has dedicated over 50 years to public health in Magadan Region. Her career continues today as she leads a department at the Magadan Regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology. Tkavadze began her journey in medicine after graduating from Rostov State Medical University. She soon moved to Magadan, where she became a key figure in the region’s healthcare system. For decades, her work has focused on improving infection control and ensuring the safety of medical facilities across Magadan Oblast.
Her expertise has earned her multiple honours, including the titles of Excellence in Healthcare, Veteran of Labor, and Honored Worker of Russia’s State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service. Beyond her professional achievements, she has guided countless young doctors, shaping the next generation of medical workers. On her birthday, officials paid tribute to her long service. Dmitry Shapovalov, a member of the Kolyma Regional Parliament, personally congratulated her. Anatoly Shirokov, Chairman of the Magadan Oblast Duma, also sent a formal commemorative message to mark the occasion.
Tkavadze remains active in her field, still contributing to epidemiology and public health in Magadan. Her decades of service have left a lasting impact on the region’s medical standards. Local authorities and colleagues continue to recognise her dedication and influence.
