Firefly Aerospace names Ramon Sanchez as new COO to boost operations

Firefly Aerospace has appointed Ramon Sanchez as its new Chief Operating Officer. The space and defence technology company announced the move as part of its push to strengthen production and daily operations. Sanchez will officially take up the role on December 22. Sanchez brings over 20 years of experience in production operations, covering commercial, civil, and national security programmes. His career includes a strong record of improving and scaling complex space manufacturing lines. At Firefly, he will oversee day-to-day operations while focusing on safety, quality, and reliability.

Firefly specialises in helping government and commercial customers launch, land, and operate in space. The company stands out as the only commercial provider to launch a satellite into orbit with just 24 hours’ notice. It also holds the distinction of being the only firm to achieve a fully successful Moon landing. The company’s engineering, manufacturing, and test facilities are all based in central Texas. This setup allows for faster innovation and streamlined production. Sanchez’s appointment aims to reinforce Firefly’s commitment to operational excellence as it scales up its capabilities.

Sanchez will lead Firefly’s production scaling and operational execution from December 22. His expertise is expected to enhance the company’s efficiency and reliability in space missions. The move comes as Firefly continues expanding its role in both government and commercial space ventures.
