A new survey reveals strong public demand for faster progress in environmental protection across Germany. Eight in ten people believe green policies are essential for economic growth. At the same time, technological innovation remains a top priority for the country's future.
The findings show that 93 percent of Germans see technological advancements as very or somewhat important. The areas they most want to improve include education and digitalisation, healthcare, and sustainable energy. These sectors are viewed as critical for long-term development.
Support for green technology is particularly high. Nearly 70 percent of respondents want the government to increase backing for environmental innovations. Many also consider green tech a major driver of Germany's economic prospects. Economic data highlights the sector's growing role. Since 2010, green technologies have contributed roughly five percent annually to the country's gross value added. They now make up over eight percent of total exports. However, the survey notes a lack of detailed data on global market comparisons, investments, or job growth in this area.
The results underline widespread backing for stronger environmental policies and innovation. Germans see green technology as vital for both economic and ecological progress. Yet without more comprehensive data, a full assessment of the sector's global position remains difficult.
