Over 120 million euros for new industrial area in Lützen - Germany's Largest Economic Hub Rises in Burgenland with €124M Investment
A major new industrial and commercial park is set to transform the Burgenland district in eastern Germany. Covering around 300 hectares near the A9 motorway in Zorbau, a district of Lützen, the project has been hailed as the largest structural and economic development in the region's history. Officials say it will create a modern business hub with strong transport links and sustainable energy solutions.
The initiative is a flagship project for the Burgenland district, designed to boost the local economy. Funding totals approximately €124.4 million, with the federal government contributing the bulk—€121.5 million—while state and municipal funds cover the remainder.
District Administrator Götz Ulrich of the CDU called the development a 'milestone' for structural change in the area. The park will be built in stages, though no companies have yet made official commitments to move in. Planners emphasise the site's advantages, including its motorway access and green energy infrastructure. The goal is to attract businesses by offering a well-connected, eco-friendly location for industry and commerce.
The project marks a significant investment in the Burgenland district's future. With federal backing and phased construction, the park aims to become a key economic driver. However, concrete business settlements have yet to be confirmed.
