Hà Nội students shine with six medals at 2025 Science Olympiad
Six students from Hà Nội-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted have won medals at the 2025 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) in Russia. The event brought together 122 contestants from 24 countries and territories. It took place from November 23 to December 2 in Sirius, Russia. The competition tested young scientists in practical, theoretical, and multiple-choice rounds. All participants were under 15 years old, as the IJSO aims to encourage early interest in hands-on scientific learning.
The Vietnamese team secured three silver and three bronze medals. Đỗ Bảo Trang, Hoàng Khôi Nguyên and Trần Ng Hùng received silver awards. Nguyễn Đông Quân, Trịnh Nguyên Hưng and Đỗ Mạnh Hưng earned bronze.
The Hà Nội Department of Education and Training selects and trains the students for this contest. The city’s teams have performed well since Vietnam first joined the IJSO in 2007. The Olympiad also promotes worldwide collaboration in education and cultural exchange among students and teachers. The students returned with a total of six medals. Their success highlights the strength of Hà Nội’s science education programme. The IJSO continues to support young talent in practical scientific fields.
