Historic Russian spa reopens after seven years of modern transformation
The Talaya Multidisciplinary Balneotherapy and Mud Spa resort has reopened in Russia’s Magadan Region after seven years of extensive reconstruction. Originally established as Goryachiye Klyuchi ('Hot Springs') on October 17, 1940, the resort has now been transformed into a modern wellness destination. A major overhaul began in 2019, focusing on new residential buildings, infrastructure upgrades, and advanced technical equipment. The resort now features four comfortable residential buildings, including an 85-bed children’s wing, allowing it to host 364 guests simultaneously.
Facilities have been significantly expanded. Guests can now enjoy two mineral hydrotherapy pools with whirlpool systems, a 25-metre swimming pool, and a cutting-edge medical complex. This includes a state-of-the-art ultrasound room and a rehabilitation gym. The resort’s covered walkways have also been repaired and insulated for improved convenience.
New additions to the grounds include a restaurant, an open-air concert stage, an indoor skating rink, and scenic walking paths. Aleksandr Basansky, overseeing the project, expressed his hopes for the well-being of all visitors upon the reopening. The resort remains renowned for its silica-rich thermal waters, medicinal mud, and unique climate. With its modernised facilities and expanded offerings, Talaya is once again ready to welcome guests seeking relaxation and therapeutic benefits.
