The IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 trade fair will run in Hanover from September 15 to 20. Nearly all exhibition halls, including the newly added Hall 22, are already fully booked. Organisers report that 70% of exhibitors come from outside Germany, with over a quarter attending for the first time. This year’s event will highlight battery-electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, alongside connected and autonomous transport solutions. Software-driven mobility and AI applications for logistics will also take centre stage. The focus reflects industry efforts to cut emissions, as heavy commercial vehicles currently produce nearly 30% of CO₂ from European road freight.
The IAA Conference will occupy its own area in Hall 18, featuring three separate stages for discussions. Meanwhile, 16 exhibitors will offer test drives of 65 vehicles, with 75% of the models running on electric power. Mercedes-Benz Vans is among the returning brands, reinforcing the event’s strong industry backing. The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) has used the occasion to push for faster expansion of charging and hydrogen refuelling networks. It also calls for more flexible regulations to support the transition of heavy-duty trucks to cleaner technologies. Exhibitors from Asia make up 27% of the total, underscoring the fair’s growing international reach.
IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 will bring together global players to showcase the latest in sustainable transport and digital innovation. With most exhibition space already reserved, the event is set to be one of the largest gatherings for the commercial vehicle sector. The push for better infrastructure and regulatory adjustments remains a key topic for industry leaders.
