Finnish space technology firm ICEYE has raised €200 million in fresh funding, boosting its valuation to €2.4 billion. The round, led by General Catalyst, includes €150 million in new capital and a €50 million secondary placement. Investors from across Europe backed the company, which specialises in radar satellite imagery for defence, disaster response, and insurance risk modelling.
The funding arrives as ICEYE expands its synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) constellation, now the world’s largest. On 28 November 2025, the firm launched five more satellites, bringing its total to 62 since 2018—22 of which entered orbit this year alone. The new capital will accelerate ICEYE’s plans to grow its SAR constellation and enhance data intelligence services. According to Rafal Modrzewski, the company’s co-founder and CEO, the funds will support next-generation sensing technology and sovereign satellite missions. These systems allow governments and institutions to access critical imagery within minutes, rather than days.
Pan-European backers in the round include A.P. Moller Holding, Bpifrance, and Vinci (BGK Group), alongside pension funds, family offices, and venture investors. Jeannette zu Fürstenberg of General Catalyst highlighted ICEYE’s role in helping European nations monitor borders and deploy independent satellite missions. The company’s turnkey solutions provide on-demand imagery without relying on third-party providers.
ICEYE’s technology is also reshaping the insurance sector. Its high-frequency, high-resolution data improves risk modelling for floods, wildfires, and other hazards. Reinsurers and insurers now use these near-real-time insights for underwriting, exposure management, and disaster loss verification. The investment reflects the market’s increasing demand for precise, up-to-date hazard intelligence.
Since 2018, ICEYE has built a fully software-defined constellation capable of sovereign missions. Its satellites deliver persistent monitoring, even through cloud cover or darkness. This reliability has made SAR a strategic tool for defence agencies, emergency responders, and commercial clients worldwide.
The latest launch in November 2025 reinforced ICEYE’s position as the operator of the largest SAR network. With 62 satellites in orbit, the company continues to scale its analytics platform, offering sharper, faster data for global security and resilience. The €200 million funding round will enable ICEYE to expand its satellite fleet and refine its data services. Governments, insurers, and disaster response teams will gain access to more detailed, timely imagery for decision-making. As demand for sovereign space capabilities grows, the company’s technology is set to play a central role in both defence and commercial applications.
