A biodiversity and mangrove cleanliness drive will take place in Kamothe this Sunday. Organised by Bhumi Welfare Trust, the event aims to raise awareness about mangrove ecosystems and encourage local involvement. The initiative marks the trust’s 299th environmental campaign in the region.

The drive will run from 7 am to 9 am near Bhumi Tower in Sector 36, Kamothe. Bhumi Welfare Trust has partnered with the Mangrove Foundation and Mangrove Soldiers for the event. Several other groups, including Lions Club, Rotary Club, and local nature enthusiasts, are also expected to join.

Key figures will attend the event to show support. These include Forest Guard Balaji Gangadhar Waghmare, NMMC Deputy Commissioner Somnath Potre, and corporators Vikas Gharat, Ravindra Joshi, Dr. Hemlata Gowari, Sheela Bhau Bhagat, and Dr. Arun Bhagat. The organisers hope to inspire residents to take an active role in protecting Kamothe’s natural environment. The campaign focuses on cleaning mangrove areas while educating participants about their ecological importance. By bringing together citizens and organisations, the trust aims to strengthen community efforts in preserving local biodiversity.

Residents of Kamothe are invited to participate in the two-hour drive. The event seeks to foster long-term engagement in environmental conservation. Organisers believe collective action will help safeguard the region’s fragile mangrove ecosystems.
