Krasnodar to transform former Ekvator Aqua Park into public space

Krasnodar authorities have announced plans to repurpose the site of the former Ekvator Aqua Park in the Zaton district. The land, currently still in private ownership, is intended for a new social facility. Officials have ruled out reviving the aqua park or allowing commercial development on the site. The Zaton aqua park, located near Victory Park, marks the 30th anniversary of the end of World War II. A court previously ordered the land to be returned to municipal ownership, but legal proceedings continue, delaying the transfer.

The former Ekvator Aqua Park in the Gidrostroiteley microdistrict remains privately owned, with no active legal disputes or expropriation in progress. Mayor Yevgeny Naumov confirmed that commercial use is not an option for the site. Instead, city officials propose alternatives such as a sports facility, an expanded park, or another public space.

Once all judicial procedures conclude, authorities plan to consult local residents about the site’s future use. Reviving the aqua park has been explicitly excluded from the plans. The land remains tied up in legal processes, preventing immediate action. Once resolved, the city will move forward with community discussions on its development. The site is expected to serve a public or social purpose rather than a commercial one.
