JSC Vostochny Port Launches New Season of Its Eco-Educational Project Eco-Marathon (12+)
Nakhodka's Eco-Marathon enters 12th year with record green impact
The initiative kicked off with a series of community clean-up events in the Vrangelya microdistrict of Nakhodka.
On Friday, April 24, company employees joined regional beautification efforts as part of the project, uniting the entire Nakhodka Urban District in Primorsky Krai. Volunteers took part in clean-up drives at Vostochny Port's facilities, going beyond routine maintenance to improve adjacent areas and plant greenery.
Earlier, the Eco-Marathon brought together company staff, local residents, and volunteers in the square named after Viktor Vasyanovich, the port's first director. Dozens of participants gathered for a clean-up ahead of a rally marking the 87th anniversary of the esteemed leader's birth.
The company's environmental specialists also visited schools in Vrangelya, delivering educational eco-lessons to teach students about the importance of environmental stewardship and practical ways to protect nature.
A reminder: The Eco-Marathon has become a cherished tradition for employees of the stevedoring company, volunteers from the Vostochny Port Foundation, and residents of Vrangelya. In April 2026, the large-scale eco-project entered its 12th year. Beyond clean-ups and greening campaigns, the initiative includes youth education programs, environmental competitions, and informative eco-tours across Primorsky Krai. Its mission is to foster a culture of environmental responsibility across all age groups.
Each spring, with the support of local residents, port workers revitalize public spaces in Vrangelya, planting flowers, trees, and shrubs. Over 12 years, the Eco-Marathon has seen at least 20,000 young trees and shrubs planted in Vrangelya's recreational areas and on the grounds of JSC Vostochny Port, along with thousands of flowers. Volunteers have also collected over a thousand bags of household waste from coastal areas and parks.
Thanks to the successful implementation of the Vostochny Port Foundation's Volunteers social development program, volunteer participation in Eco-Marathon events grows more widespread and impactful each year. The volunteers themselves have long been the driving force behind clean-ups, tree-planting drives, and other activities within the eco-educational project.
