Nizhny Novgorod to Build Futuristic News Centre by 2030 Along Rowing Canal

A new news centre is set to be built along the Rowing Canal in Nizhny Novgorod. The project has entered the public discussion phase, with plans to complete construction by 2030. Residents can share feedback until January 21 before work begins.

The development will unfold in a single phase, starting with site preparation. Once complete, crews will move on to building the main structure, an underground car park, and a café.

The news centre itself will span three floors, covering 4,671 square metres. Below ground, space for 20 vehicles will be created, while the surrounding area will feature improved landscaping and lighting. Additional upgrades include new utility networks and stormwater drainage systems.

Planners have already finalised a master layout and conducted a land survey. The project timeline, however, does not specify when construction might start after approval, as comparable data for similar Russian news centres remains unavailable.

The facility will add a modern research and education hub to the city's waterfront. Public input on the design will close in late January, after which the first construction steps can proceed. If completed as scheduled, the news centre will open its doors before the end of the decade.
