Nuevo León's FIFA transit upgrades launch with free rides and fan-friendly routes

Nuevo León has completed major upgrades to its public transit system ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The improvements include new infrastructure, expanded accessibility, and free travel options for fans attending matches and events. The FIFA transit corridor in Nuevo León is now operational, finished on schedule. Free Metro services will run between the stadium and Fundidora Park, as well as for those heading to the Fan Fest. Governor Samuel García confirmed that all public transport in the state will be free for World Cup ticket holders.

Metrorrey has enhanced security, technology, and passenger comfort across its network. Estación Exposición and Estación Y Griega now have full roof coverage over their platforms. The system has also introduced exclusive routes from the city centre to the stadium for match days.

As part of the Trazos Mundialistas programme, World Cup-themed murals have been added to the Metro. Paco Reyes, representing the artists, said the artwork aims to strengthen the public’s connection to shared spaces. The upgrades ensure smoother, safer, and more accessible travel for fans during the tournament. Free services and dedicated routes will help manage the increased demand. The new murals add a cultural touch to the transport experience.
