Portugal's Health Parliament Seeks Young Leaders to Reshape Healthcare
The Health Parliament Portugal (HPP) is back for its third edition, recruiting 60 participants between 21-40 years old to think about the healthcare sector. Over several months, participants will take on the role of HPP deputies and work on recommendations for key areas of the system, in a model that replicates parliamentary logic and promotes debate.
Applications start this Friday, May 1st, and will run until June 15th. Selected participants, announced by the end of July, will be distributed across six thematic commissions - health data and AI; diagnosis and care integration; innovation and health value; oncology; mental health and health value - which will be accompanied by an advisory council linked to each area.
The works will take place between September and early 2027, with four in-person plenary sessions, where commissions present and discuss the development of their proposals. Throughout this period, parliamentarians can also conduct study visits to sector entities and directly contact reality on the ground, also electing a president who assumes the role of spokesperson and liaison to the organization.
At the end of about six months of work, a set of recommendations is published to improve the national health system.
