Save the Children Backs PrimaKu to Revolutionize Child Healthcare in Rural Indonesia

Save the Children Global Ventures (SCGV) has invested in PrimaKu, an Indonesian digital health platform for children. The initial funding of $0.5 million (€0.4m) aims to expand access to healthcare in rural areas. PrimaKu connects parents, paediatricians, and clinics to improve child health outcomes across the country.

The platform already supports 1.5 million registered parents and works with over 5,000 paediatricians and 1,500 clinics. SCGV’s investment marks another step in its focus on health sector innovations in Asia. PrimaKu’s platform helps families track vaccinations, monitor growth, and prevent malnutrition. Data shows that children using the service complete their childhood vaccinations over three times more often than those who do not. Additionally, 96% of children registered on PrimaKu avoid malnutrition, a major health concern in Indonesia.

The investment will allow PrimaKu to scale up its reach through Save the Children Indonesia’s existing community health programmes. These programmes target underserved and hard-to-reach rural populations, where healthcare access remains limited.

SCGV has previously backed health startups like ThinkMD and Viebeg. This latest move aligns with its strategy to build a portfolio of impact-driven health investments. The organisation also plans to announce three more health sector investments in the coming weeks, establishing a track record for its new Asia Health Fund.

Looking ahead, SCGV expects to take part in PrimaKu’s Series A funding round, with potential investments ranging from $1 million to $2 million. The goal is to further strengthen the platform’s ability to deliver essential health services to more families. The $0.5 million equity investment will help PrimaKu expand its services in rural Indonesia. By partnering with local health programmes, the platform aims to reduce malnutrition and increase vaccination rates. SCGV’s continued support signals confidence in PrimaKu’s ability to improve child health outcomes at scale.
