Sygnature Discovery boosts chemical yields with advanced flow chemistry

Sygnature Discovery has successfully scaled up chemical reactions using the Asia Flow Chemistry System from Syrris. The company achieved an 83% increase in the oxidation of an aniline to a nitrate, while also handling hazardous reagents more safely than traditional methods. Their work highlights the system's precision and adaptability in large-scale synthesis.

The firm operated the Asia Flow Chemistry System for extended periods to boost reaction yields. By using the Asia Syrringe Pump's full infusion capacity, they maintained tight control over the process. This approach proved more efficient than standard batch reactors, cutting costs and minimising risks.

One key success was the safe reaction of neopentyl iodide with t-butyllithium—two hazardous substances. The system's ability to manage high back-pressures and integrate third-party equipment, such as the chip heater, added to its flexibility. Sygnature Discovery's teams across four global sites—Nottingham, Macclesfield, Alderley Park, and Delft—benefited from the technology's ease of use.

The company praised the system's adaptability, noting how its modular design allowed seamless integration with existing tools. This made it easier to scale up processes while keeping conditions stable and predictable.

Sygnature Discovery's results demonstrate the Asia Flow Chemistry System's advantages in large-scale synthesis. The technology improved efficiency, reduced hazards, and offered greater control compared to conventional reactors. These outcomes could influence how similar processes are managed in future research and production.
