Tata Power's charging network fuels India's electric vehicle surge in 2026

Electric vehicle adoption in India is gaining momentum, with reliable charging infrastructure playing a key role. Tata Power has expanded its network significantly, helping to drive consumer confidence and reduce emissions across the country. Tata Power now operates over 5,500 public charging points in more than 700 cities and towns. In Maharashtra alone, the company has installed over 2,400 charging stations, including more than 1,800 in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. These regions have become major EV markets as charging availability grows and consumer acceptance rises.

The company has also partnered with leading carmakers to install over 2.3 lakh home chargers nationwide. Its expanding network has supported over 7.5 lakh charging sessions and enabled more than 414 million green miles. This infrastructure has already helped prevent nearly 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

Recent additions include new charging stations in Pune, the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway, and Kolkata. The growing network in Maharashtra is expected to further accelerate EV uptake in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. India’s EV market saw sales exceed 2.55 million units in FY2026, with all vehicle categories recording double-digit growth. Tata Power’s widespread charging network continues to support this shift towards cleaner transport. The expansion of reliable infrastructure remains crucial for sustained adoption.
