Ugreen halts early-bird preorders for AI-powered NAS systems amid pricing uncertainty
Ugreen has paused early-bird preorders for its new AI-powered NAS systems, the NASync iDX6011 and iDX6011 Pro. The company cited pricing uncertainty as the reason for the sudden halt. Originally, customers could secure a 40% discount by placing a deposit before March 23, but that offer has now been withdrawn.
The devices were set to launch on Kickstarter on March 24, though final pricing details have since been removed from Ugreen's website. Both models have also been marked as 'sold out' to prevent overwhelming demand before the official release.
The NASync iDX6011 Pro stands out with its high-end specifications. It features an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, delivering 16 cores and 16 threads with 96 TOPS of performance. The system also includes 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory and an SSD for the operating system, which has contributed to higher manufacturing costs.
Storage capacity is another key highlight. The Pro model supports up to 196 TB, accommodating six SATA drives and two NVMe drives. Meanwhile, the standard iDX6011 offers a more modest configuration.
Originally, Ugreen had listed the iDX6011 Pro at $2,599 (or €2,599), the 64 GB iDX6011 at $1,999 (or €1,999), and the 32 GB iDX6011 at $1,699 (or €1,699). Kickstarter backers were initially promised a 30% discount, while early-bird preorders came with a 40% reduction. However, these promotions have now been suspended, leaving final pricing unclear.
Despite the delays, Ugreen's Kickstarter launch on March 24 is still expected to go ahead. The company has not yet provided updated pricing or explained the reasons behind the sudden changes.
The suspension of early-bird discounts and the removal of pricing details have left potential buyers in limbo. Ugreen's decision to mark the devices as 'sold out' suggests a strategy to manage demand while resolving pricing issues. The final cost of the NASync iDX6011 and iDX6011 Pro will likely be confirmed once the Kickstarter campaign begins.
