Senior officials from South Korea and the United States met on 19 January to strengthen space cooperation. The talks focused on deepening ties in satellite technology and commercial space ventures. Both sides highlighted the need for closer collaboration in an expanding industry.
Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs Park Jong-han represented Seoul at the meeting. His American counterpart was Taylor Jordan, director of the US Department of Commerce’s Office of Space Commerce. The two discussed ways to expand joint projects in space exploration and satellite development.
Park stressed the importance of building a reliable supply chain between the two nations. He also called for coordinated efforts to enter overseas markets together. These steps aim to boost competitiveness in the global space sector. As of January 2026, no successor to Jordan has been publicly named. His role remains unfilled at the US Department of Commerce.
The meeting marked another step in US-South Korea space collaboration. Officials from both countries agreed on the need for secure supply chains and joint market expansion. Further discussions are expected as the partnership develops.
