Vladivostok's beaches undergo major cleanup ahead of summer season
Vladivostok’s beaches are getting ready for the summer swimming season. A major cleanup is underway, with efforts focusing on popular coastal spots like Russky Island and Akhlystysheva Bay. Both city services and local businesses are working together to clear debris before visitors arrive. On Russky Island, heavy machinery and manual labour are removing waste from the beach near the settlement of Kanal. The operation aims to restore the area before the season begins. Local companies leasing parts of the coastline have promised to assist city crews in keeping the shores clean.
Last Sunday, volunteers and divers targeted Akhlystysheva Bay, pulling household rubbish from the seabed. The municipal enterprise Lazo provided support for the initiative. To help maintain cleanliness, new trash bins will be placed along the beaches. Cleanup work will continue later this week at Steklyannaya and Lazurnaya bays. Meanwhile, swimming remains permitted only in designated areas, including bays on Popov Island and parts of Russky Island. These zones have been officially approved for public use.
The combined efforts of city services, volunteers, and businesses aim to ensure clean beaches for the season. Trash bins and regular maintenance will help keep the shoreline tidy. Swimming will be allowed only in the approved bays and capes across Vladivostok’s urban district.
