Vyazemsky District plants 'Gardens of Memory' to honor fallen soldiers

Residents of Vyazemsky District have come together to honour fallen soldiers through a tree-planting campaign. The 'Gardens of Memory' initiative has seen hundreds of trees planted in tribute to those lost in the Great Patriotic War and participants in the special military operation. Each new sapling represents a personal connection to a lost loved one or comrade. The campaign began with residents of Dormidontovka joining forces with the Avansky forestry unit. Local schoolchildren and kindergarten pupils helped plant the first trees, setting the initiative in motion.

On June 7, Venyukovo saw a large-scale planting effort. Fifty larch trees, 15 mountain ash, and 15 guelder rose bushes were added to the landscape. The event drew a diverse group, including border guards, a veteran of the special military operation, kindergarten staff, cultural workers, and representatives from the local administration. School students also took part, ensuring younger generations played a role in the commemoration. The effort has spread across the district, with commemorative alleys now established in Sadovoye, Sheremetyevo, Kapitonovka, and Kotikovo. Organisers have made clear that the project will continue, with plans to expand tree-planting to more villages in the coming months.

The 'Gardens of Memory' initiative has already resulted in several hundred trees being planted across Vyazemsky District. Each tree serves as a lasting memorial, ensuring the names and sacrifices of fallen heroes remain part of the community’s landscape. The campaign’s focus on involving schools and local groups helps pass on the tradition of remembrance to future generations.
