Wild Siberian tiger captured near Russian village after repeated sightings

A male tiger has been captured near the village of Pushkino in Bikin District after causing concern among locals. The animal, aged over seven years, was safely detained on May 7 without any visible injuries. The tiger had repeatedly entered the village, alarming residents before authorities intervened. Wildlife experts secured the animal and will now conduct a full medical assessment.

The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor) will decide the tiger’s next steps. Meanwhile, a new wildlife rehabilitation centre is being built in Khabarovsk District, which could potentially house the animal. Officials will review the tiger’s health and behaviour before making a final decision. The outcome will depend on the examination results and available rehabilitation options. The construction of the new centre may provide a solution for its long-term care.
